Yellow
Sometimes I'm just happy to see the sunset.
From my apartment I can see the orange-yellow light slurping itself back up over the shingled roofs below.
And I think of where I am now, so far away from the world I use to know.
The world familiar became the world estranged
the bizarre now oh so plain.
And my self now
once a stranger
is a new and unique
being.
I look at the sun
lavishing rays upon even the darkest most distorted alley ways,
the sheen starting to shrink
and
I think
of the beauty I have watched fade,
these things that slip away-
The love that has left me, the friendship that has left me-
and I know it will return.
In one form or another, they need must return.
Just like the sunlight to the sky.
